fractures are treated with buddy taping and hard soled shoe; walking cast for 10-14 days will suffice if the buddy taping does not produce adequate pain relief
- displaced fractures require reduction, which can typically be done closed. If unstable, use a midlateral incision to fix with small K-wires or screws

- usually, buddy taping suffices
- significant displacement or angulation can be reduced with longitudinal traction
- a fair amount of displacement can be accepted.
