Tibia - anterior approach
* position - supine & tourniquet
* incision - longitudinal incision 1 cm lat. to ant. border of tibia
* no internervous plane
* dissection
- elevate skin flaps
- incise periosteum
- elevate to expose either med. surface or lat. surface of tibia
* dangers
- long saphenous vein - runs along med. side of calf
- skin flaps must be closed meticulously to avoid infection
