Triradiate Injury

Triradiate injury
Complications - Triradiate Cartilage Injury

- rare occurrence; occurs more often with crush injury to the triradiate rather than a fracture

- if injured during growth, there is great potential for early closure and development of a shallow acetabulum

- more common in children under 10

- can lead to significant incongruity of the hip and subluxation

- requires acetabular reconstruction

- femoral head may grow to expand and extrude laterally, riding up along the superior lip of the shallow acetabulum and wearing it out.
